In this article, you can read about parsing, which gives you and your candidates the ability to convert CV files to structured information within RecMan.

Parsing is a process that takes text from a file and puts it into data fields. Having information in data fields is crucial for RecMan to perform searches and quickly obtain the information. Your candidates can do this from their profiles to avoid filling out every field manually, and you can do it from within the system.

Warning

When you choose to parse a file, the file will be parsed no matter what it contains. Should you attempt to parse a file that is not a CV but a technical description, for instance, this information could be added to the candidate fields.

Note

CV parsing is highly recommended for other AI features, such as AI matching and AI database scan, to function at its optimal capacity. To ensure an unbiased AI score, the matching and scanning features only access “CV fields” and not the CV file itself, as the file could include information such as profile picture, gender, age, and other PII.

Activating for users

To activate this function, you need System Administrator access to the system. If you are not a system administrator, contact the person in your company with this access.

To activate parsing, go to System settingsCandidatesCV-parsing. Here you choose which corporation you wish to activate the service for.

Parsing

Here you will be able to see up-to-date prices for parsing. Check the box to activate the service.

Activating for candidates

To allow candidates to parse their CVs, this has to be activated within the system. The activation is done per corporation, as we did earlier. Go to System settingsCorporations → Manage career page and choose Functions.

Once this has been activated, all candidates will get access to CV parsing directly from their candidate profile.

Usage

As previously mentioned, both you, as a co-worker and the candidates themselves can utilize this service.

Create candidates using parsing

In RecMan, there are several places where a candidate can be created using parsing.

Create candidate
You can parse a CV when creating a candidate manually.

Create a candidate in the project pipeline
In the Board and List views of the recruitment project, you can add a candidate by parsing their CV.

Create a candidate from an email
In the Email module, the attached CV can be clicked on the three-dot button for the CV parsing option.

Parsing from an existing candidate card

In order to parse as a co-worker, go to a candidate card. Open the files, and look to the far right. After activating, you can see a new button here, as shown below.

Parsing

As soon as you click this button, the parsing will start. This may take a couple of seconds as the entire document is scanned and translated into data. After a short while, the page will refresh, and the fields will be imported.

Parsing as a candidate

New candidates will also be able to parse. They can choose to upload their CV in a special box that appears once they have registered.

Parsing

They can also upload their CV directly while applying for the job post. The file they choose can be automatically parsed, making the process of filling out their profile very simple.

Once the parsing is finished, the pop-up window will display the fields that have been filled out.

It's possible to see whether the CV has been parsed and to upload (delete or parse) a new CV. A new parsed CV will overwrite any previous information.

If candidates only submit their CV using the sign-up option, it will not be parsed automatically.
