By creating a hierarchy of attributes, you can set up a logical flow of questions to guide your candidates through a series of questions. In other words, you create questions that candidates can answer. When a candidate answers the question of an attribute, based on the answer, a new attribute will appear.
In the picture above, you can see a hierarchy of attributes. By adding a new attribute in System Settings → Candidates → Attributes and connecting it to the one above as a parent attribute, another question will appear for the candidate.
Note
Multiple choice is an attribute with the purpose of gathering more information about a candidate, and you will only be able to connect one attribute to a multiple choice – parent attribute. This means that you cannot use multiple choice as a parent attribute. On the other hand, you could use multiple choice to end a series of connected attributes. If you want to filter a candidate, leading it to a specific attribute, the drop-down menu attribute should be used.
When an attribute has been correctly connected to a parent attribute, it will look like this in the system:
- The hierarchy icon shows that the attribute has been connected to a parent attribute.
- This shows to which parent attribute it has been connected.
Note
If you try to add an attribute without connecting it to a parent attribute, it will not appear as in the picture.
The Parent attribute feature differs from the regular attributes because it is only compatible with being used on the RecMan-page. This means the parent attributes that you create need to be added when creating a job post. When the job post has been made, and a candidate applies for the job, the attribute questions will appear on the candidate’s profile page.
In the example above, we have asked the candidate what shoe size the candidate uses. After answering the question, a new question appeared to the candidate, asking what size of working pants the candidate uses. This is how the parent attribute will work for a candidate on the RecMan-page.
