Candidate attributes

This article covers custom attributes that capture the key qualities and skills needed for a successful candidacy.

Creating an attribute

Candidate

To create a new attribute, go to System settings → Candidates → Attributes → +Add. Type a name and select for which corporations the attribute should be available. There are several options for the attribute field types:

  • Yes / No value – If you have an attribute called, for example, Carpenter, you will be able to set Yes or No for the attribute.
  • Star rating – A rating is set here. If the attribute, e.g., is called Car competence, you can set the number of stars according to how high you assess the candidate's car competence.
  • Long text – This field allows a free text field with an unlimited number of characters to be filled out together with the attribute, which then gives you the opportunity to describe your own skills in your own words, or you can make text notes on the attribute.
  • Text – This field allows a free text field of 255 characters max to be filled out together with the attribute. The input text will not be filterable; however, the attribute, in general, will.
  • Multi-select – With multi-select, you can choose several options, and not just one. Switch a toggle to enable star ratings on options. This means that it will be possible to put a star rating on each multi-select option chosen.
  • Single-select – This creates a list of options, and later, you can add/modify the values in it. When using this, only one of the options can be selected.
  • Date – This attribute allows the use of a date format field.
  • Shared with candidate – If this box is checked, the attribute you create is automatically shared with all candidates in the candidate database on the candidate's own profile (RecMan page). This can be interesting if you want all candidates, for example, to answer a question. In that case, remember to formulate the attribute as a question. For example: Which of the following certifications do you have?

    Note

Suppose you share an attribute with a candidate. In that case, the attribute will not appear as an alternative in a job advertisement, where you can manually share attributes with candidates who apply for a specific position.

You also have the option to change the order of the attributes via drag&drop. The attributes that are first in the list are also displayed first on a candidate's profile (depending on whether it is shared with the candidate).

When a candidate has been given an attribute, it is easy to search for them afterward by, e.g., filtering on the attribute(s) in the candidate database or recruitment module.

Translations can be added as needed, and attributes can be grouped for easier management. Edit or delete if necessary.

Conditional logic

Here you can set rules for this attribute. Parent attributes can be added so that a candidate's answer to them can trigger this attribute to appear. You can read more about parent attributes here.

Use of candidate attributes in the recruitment pipeline

Go to the Recruitment module and open your project.

You can streamline candidate profiles with persistent attributes.

This feature allows you to:

  1. View application data: See attribute values submitted by candidates during their application process directly in their profile.
  2. Customize candidate profiles: Easily add and manage custom attributes to capture relevant information specific to your hiring needs.

When you add a candidate and click on their card, the first tab that opens is Overview. Here, under General info, you can add attributes.

Candidate attributes are persistent, meaning they stay with the candidate even across different projects. This eliminates the need to re-enter information for the same candidate in future recruitment cycles.
