RecMan's use of reCAPTCHA ("I'm not a robot").
In RecMan, we use what is called reCAPTCHA to prevent unauthorized access to our systems. reCAPTCHA is a free Google service that prevents robots from creating fake profiles or doing other malicious acts to the system. Below is a small explanation of the use of this.
Potential threats
From RecMan, you can send out various sensitive information to customers and employees, candidate presentations, offers and agreements. To prevent these from being scanned and indexed by other internet services, Captcha is used as a security measure to prevent unwanted people from gaining access to the data that is sent. This feature is standard in most places but can be enabled where it is not. For example, you can activate the function on the RecMan page, where candidates must go through the check before they create a profile. This helps prevent a robot from creating fake, potentially dangerous and unwanted candidate profiles.
reCAPTCHA
To prevent this, we use what is called reCAPTCHA. This is a barrier that prevents robots from being able to open the content, and you then prevent the content from going astray. A standard variant looks like this:
To get past this, you simply have to click the white box. Then one of two things can happen:
- In most cases, the document will open, and you will have access to view/sign. This gives the recipient an "Authentication," which means that they do not have to confirm that they are not a robot for 6 hours.
- If the same IP address has tried to open many offers/agreements/presentations from you in a short time, they will get an assignment. This task will be a visual task, where you will be asked to identify something in pictures. These must be resolved for the document to come up.
Note
These tasks will become more and more complicated should one make a mistake on the task. They must be resolved in order for the document to be opened.
Trouble with reCAPTCHA
If you are experiencing trouble with reCAPTCHA, some of the requirements are listed by Google in this support article.
Some troubleshooting steps include:
- Using one of the browsers required for reCAPTCHA and ensuring that the browser is updated.
- Disable browser plugins that may cause a conflict with reCAPTCHA.
- Check/reset your network, and turn off any VPN/Proxy.
