Subcontractor

In this article, you can read about Subcontractors, also known as employees in the system, who do not have a salary but rather have to invoice their business.

Sometimes, you want to hire a consultant or self-employed person to work with a customer. In such cases, the employee shall not have a salary but instead, invoice your business for the work done. This is possible to implement in the RecMan. It is similar to a regular staffing assignment, with a few changes.

To make an employee a subcontractor, there is one simple thing to do. You must associate the employee with a business in the CRM. This typically becomes the business of the consultant where they are hired from. You can associate the employee with a business by going to the Employee option on the candidate card:

In this field, you simply search for the company to which the employee is assigned.

Differences

The differences between a regular employee and a subcontractor are very few. This is only clear when paying a salary. The subcontractor will register hours as usual, and the hours must be approved. The hours registered must then be run thru Payroll and created for paychecks.

Once you have created a paycheck, they become visible under Paychecks, but then through a separate filter called Employee type: Subcontractor. The paycheck that remains here becomes the invoice for the period.

Note that the subcontractor will be able to log in and register hours as another employee, but where other employees have Paychecks, they will be able to see invoices.
