How to reference check candidates in RecMan
Candidates who register or apply to your RecMan portal can add one or multiple reference persons to increase their chances as job seekers. For recruiters assessing candidates in a pipeline, they can see who the candidate has listed and reach out to do a reference check.

The information the candidate can add is name, title, what company they belong to, email and phone number. In addition, recruiters in the system can check a box to set the reference person as verified, candidates can add their description of the reference person, and the recruiter has an internal note for assessments they don’t want to disclose to the candidate.
How to register a reference check
To register a completed reference check, navigate to the section for Reference check on the candidate card and click +Add. When registering, you can use the reference check as a note field, a summary of your conversation, or a more structured series of questions and answers.
To do reference checking more quickly and standardizedly, you can also select a prepared template with your most used questions – so that you only need to fill in the answers. You can also upload attachments with the reference check, if you have a reference check form filled out, for instance.
Contacting reference persons using email
Reference persons can also be contacted over email by clicking the email address added to the contact information. This will open a window for you to send email, where you can select a prepared email template to make the sending simple. Email templates can easily be standardized using mScript merge tags for reference persons to make the sending more swift so that you won’t have to adjust the template before sending.
With the merge tag “@candidateReference.name,” RecMan will automatically fetch and fill in the name of the reference person you are sending to so the email greeting will transform to “Hi Svein Kåre Ingebrigsten” in the example shown above. The merge tag can also be used in a RecMan Form.
Conducting a reference check using RecMan Forms
If you want to make reference checking more effortless for bigger projects, you can create a form in the RecMan Forms module and send it out to conduct several reference checks at a time.
